I need a notepad to catch some of these magic moments I keep finding, such as, from the introduction to Understanding Media, when speaking of a comment made by on of the book’s editors:
” He noted in dismay that “seventy five percent of your material is new. A successful book cannot venture to be more than ten percent new.”
First published in 1964, this figure may have evolved, but the very concept that our introduction to the future must be rationed, prescribed, paced and apportioned, is something of a disappointment, if not an affirmation of our numbskull snails pace.
